Director of Operations

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Director of Operations with a food manufacturing industry background. The Director of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. In addition to the strategic components, this position will be charged with overseeing daily business activities, improving overall business functions, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.

 
  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement.
  • Contributes to the overall growth and development of the company through effective communications with sales and technical groups and provides manufacturing expertise to the successful development of new products and processes.
  • Promotes positive labor relations inside and outside the plant by ensuring consistent application of company policies, provides leadership to managers and supervisors.
  • Ensures compliance for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
  • Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and management methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimization and efficiencies.
  • Seek out opportunities for expansionand growth by developing new business relationships.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals and assuring their completion, while accomplishing your own goals.
  • Ensures robust plant safety and security procedures and training are in place and that operations are in the compliance with all required regulations and corporate directives.
  • Organizes project activities that may require internal/external meetings and communications to ensure that project/program are on schedule and within budget.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of industry and demonstrated knowledge in the areas of financial analysis, business administration, legal, human resources, ethical practices, marketing, business development, revenue management, and sales.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to understand and carry out industry specific written and oral direction. Positive, innovative approach to problem solving. Presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner; negotiate, persuade, and modify opinion in order to reach the goals/objectives of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze and synopsize a monthly financial statement and prepare detailed budgets and operating forecasts. Ability to note deviations from financial plan, determine causes and to provide recommendations on needed action plans.
  • Must demonstrate the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and character and promote ethical business behavior throughout the business.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • Ten (10) years management experience in a manufacturing environment; food production highly preferred.
